This policy explains what personal data we collect through samuelcyclestheworld.com, why we collect it, and what rights you have. We keep it short and plain, because that is more useful than a wall of legal text.

Who we are

Samuel Cycles the World is a family project, run by Wendy Dirksen Hermans. It is not a foundation or a registered charity.

What we collect

If you place an order in the shop. Your name, email address, delivery address and the details of your order. We need these to make and send the item and to contact you if something goes wrong.

If you contact us. Your name, email address and whatever you write to us.

If you subscribe to updates. Your name and email address.

When you visit the site. Technical data such as your IP address and browser type, recorded by the platform the site runs on. This is standard for any website and is used to keep it working and secure, not to identify you personally.

We never collect your payment card details. Payments are handled by our payment provider. Card numbers do not reach us and are not stored by us.

Why we are allowed to use it

• To fulfil a contract: when you order something, we need your details to deliver it.
• Because the law requires it: tax and accounting rules oblige us to keep records of sales.
• Because you gave consent: for email updates and for non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Because we have a legitimate interest: keeping the website working, secure and understandable.

Who else sees your data

We do not sell your data and we do not share it with anyone for advertising. We do use service providers who process data on our behalf:

• Stripe and PayPal, to process payments and donations.
• Printful, to print and ship the items you order. They receive your name and delivery address.
• HighLevel, the platform this website and shop run on.
• Meta, YouTube and TikTok, only if you click through to our pages there. What happens on those platforms is covered by their own privacy policies, not by ours.

Some of these companies are based outside the European Economic Area. Where that is the case, the transfer is covered by the safeguards those companies are required to have in place, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Cookies

The site uses cookies. The essential ones make the site and the shopping basket work and cannot be switched off. Any non-essential ones can be refused through the banner you saw when you arrived, and refusing them does not stop you using the site.

How long we keep it

• Order and payment records: as long as tax law requires us to keep them.
• Emails you send us: as long as needed to deal with your question, and then no longer than two years.
• Email subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
• Technical logs: no longer than 26 months.

Children

This website is about a child, but it is not aimed at children as customers. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their data, write to us and we will delete it.

Samuel appears on this site and in our films with the consent of his parents. He does not have an account and does not collect anyone's data.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• ask what data we hold about you and get a copy;
• have mistakes corrected;
• have your data deleted, unless we are legally obliged to keep it;
• object to the way we use it, or ask us to limit that use;
• receive your data in a portable form;
• withdraw consent at any time, for anything you consented to.

Email us and we will answer within one month. There is no charge.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with a new date at the top.
